The Town of Mancos Building Department serves the community with access to resources and information on all landuse and building permit questions and applications. Our development services brings together planning and zoning, building inspections and code enforcement in one department.
Our goal is to provide a consistent and transparent process from the pre-application meeting to final project approval. If you would like to schedule a pre-application conference to go over your proposed project with town staff, please contact Jason Armstrong, Community and Economic Development Director to get started.
If you have questions about the building code as your project progresses, or you need to request an inspection, please reach out directly to the Building Inspector.

Electrical and Plumbing Inspections
The Town of Mancos does not inspect electrical or plumbing projects that require a permit. All permits and inspections are provided by the Department of Regulatory Agencies with the State of Colorado. If you are a homeowner hiring an Electrical Contractor or Plumbing Contractor, your contractor is responsible for obtaining the required permit(s). Homeowner's insurance may not cover the costs of repair for work performed by anyone without liability insurance who causes damage to your property.
Gas Leaks
If you suspect a leak, leave the area to call 911 and Atmos Energy from a safe distance at their toll-free emergency number 866.322.8667. Atmos Energy will send a trained technician immediately to investigate at no cost. Do not assume someone else will report the leak.
Atmos Energy recommends the following:
- DO NOT turn on or off any electric switch; this could cause a spark, igniting the gas.
- DO NOT use a cell phone, telephone, garage door opener, doorbell, or even a flashlight.
- DO NOT smoke, use a lighter, or strike a match.
- DO NOT start or stop a nearby vehicle or machinery.
- DO NOT try to shut off a natural gas valve.
